Feminism is usually linked to women’s rights and tackling gender inequality. But it’s also key in pushing back against society’s harmful ideas about what being a man should be.
Since I was little, I started questioning little things around me. For example;
“If I had parents and my parents had parents and my parents’ parents had parents, who are the first parents, and did they have parents? — oh, it didn’t make them the first ones being parents.”
“Why did my mom always play with me? Why does my dad never play with me? Or even around me when I play with my doll.” “Why did mom always cry every watch drama? But my dad didn’t.”
I haven’t seen my dad cry, ever, even to this day.
Little did I know, they had social expectations about how to be a woman and how to be a man, and I’ve fought my whole life being told society how to live my life. We all are.
Women nowadays have been got together to fight for a better life by campaigning for feminism. Even tho we still have a lot of work to fight for, such as what my old man is going through to this day, toxic masculinity. This topic had been lost track cause feminism is usually linked to women’s rights and tackling gender inequality. But it’s also key in pushing back against society’s harmful ideas about what being a man should be.
Harmful ideals about being a man push dominance, anger, and hiding feelings. These ideas stop men from being themselves or having good relationships. This pressure often leads to bad habits like fighting, drug use, and shutting down emotionally. It also makes things unequal between men and women.
Feminism isn’t only about women. It challenges old ideas about what men and women should be. By showing how bad these “manly” ideas are, feminism helps men question and say no to pressures that stop them from growing. Feminists believe we need to eliminate these bad ideas to have equality.
Feminism supports a better way to be a man with respect, caring, and understanding. It knows that eliminating bad “manly” ideas helps men too. Feminist groups make spaces where men can change what it means to be a man and be good to others. This means stopping evil actions, learning about feelings, and discussing gender roles.
Feminism knows that these bad ideas affect different men differently. It depends on race, money, who you love, and if you have a disability. Feminism looks at all these things to understand that not all men have the same problems. This helps feminists find ways to help all men, no matter who they are.
Feminism teaches men by showing them wrong ideas and giving them ways to grow. Talking to men about these bad ideas is essential for moving forward. This means teaching about consent, good relationships, and talking openly about gender roles. When men are part of the feminist movement, we can fight these bad ideas better.
Getting rid of bad ideas about being a man isn’t just suitable for one person. It’s good for everyone. When men can show feelings, have good relationships, and stop evil actions, they are happier and healthier. It also makes a fairer world where everyone can do well. This means better relationships, less violence, and more kindness.
Feminism’s fight against these bad ideas is essential for equality. By changing what society expects and supporting a better way to be a man, feminism helps men and makes the world more inclusive. Getting rid of these bad ideas helps people live better lives and helps society by making relationships healthier and stopping violence. Through teaching, talking, and working together, feminism is taking significant steps to change these bad ideas and create a better future for everyone.
